Is homosexuality a threat to heterosexuality?
Yesterday I was asked to tell my opinion on homophobia.
Long time ago men created religion… and religion built society, as we still know it. And if the society was already mainly patriarchic, with religion it all went deepened and further on that. Atheists are perhaps more intellectual and rational, or turned more into science, so we often go beyond those needs of “who has the biggest penis”.
Since ages men had the need to be superior to women. The whole situation of objectifying women is just a symbol of that. In religion the high priests are always men. In monarchies the legacy goes always to the sons. The male. The macho. And the macho is superior to women in traditional cultures misguided by religions. For centuries Europe was led by Catholic Church, and most of our society is still based on its rules. They then exported it to America and Africa and even Asia. In Muslim culture always happened the same.
In fact, slavery was a law made by Portuguese imposed by Vatican at the time… a law that made black people as items to be sold at the market. One more chance from white men to feel power.
To be on the top.
How homosexuality came on this?
In our society, since always, women have been object of desire. In arts, or in general culture. Objectifying women makes them mere objects, objects of sexual desire, that we often have in advertisement for example. With a subliminal or obvious approach. And homosexuality comes in a very defying way towards heterosexual men. Lesbians are “generally more accepted”, because they are not seen as an object of desire… but as 2 objects of desire together. A dream of “every” heterosexual men: exercise their male power over 2 women.
Now take a moment and think about this:
homosexuality is a threat to heterosexual men… because homosexuals are the only ones who turn heterosexuals into objects of desire!
The same way as women are, to heterosexual men. So heterosexuals, in their complex of being more macho and with their need to prove it constantly, end up feeling treated as an object as they have been always treating women. Something that they achieve with power to make women feel inferior (while feeling needed).
But then something curious happens: if you come out to a “heterosexual macho” — usually homophobic — he will feel threatened because he’s afraid that you look at him as object of desire. Then you tell him no, that you’re not attracted to him. And he will be confused, because if you’re inferior to him, as homosexual, you should feel attracted by his power, his machoness. But if you feel attracted, he will feel object, thus inferior. And all this can be very confusing for a macho mind.
Now think about homosexual women… for a macho, there’s no way a woman can live without feeling attracted to them. How come a woman can exist not feeling attracted by the supreme being and the symbol of power? That makes even less sense. Lesbians are taken as libertines, because for a “macho”, a woman should be there, waiting for him, and to give birth to their children. If women can’t be an object of desire or baby machines, there’s no point for their existence.
Anyway, people always had the need to label everything and everyone, to make them feel more secure in their little minds. There’s a Portuguese Poet who wrote once something like: “ if god wanted flowers and stars to have names, he would have created them with labels.” But people don’t listen to poets or other men of culture and of intellect anymore. People follow religious leaders, no matter how damage they do to societies and humanity. Religion has been always the biggest sado-masochist club in the world. The real cult of a game of thrones.
On a lighter note, I always thought that heterosexuals often had this hidden envy of homosexuals though. Notice how humans have been always living in this duality: humans always saw animals as inferiors… however, they always envied them: they always wanted to have wings like birds, and good sight and sense of smell like wolves, and the elegance of the horses, and the power of a bull… and the hair of a lion.
And by ostriches and their tall legs and amazing feathers. Oh, no, that are for homosexuals.
One day humanity will understand that being homosexual was never a choice but just being product of nature, like having blue or brown eyes, born ginger or brunette, autistic or “neurotypical”.
The only thing that is not natural is homophobia, which is just a (not) human attitude. So you must be proud of who you are, no matter what. It’s your nature. The only thing you can work out is attitude: being more human than the homophobic ones, and be able to teach them that nature is wiser than any religion.
